Opals have fascinated jewellery wearers for as long as we’ve known them. Unlike most gemstones, they don’t hold a single tone. Their colour shifts come from the way light interacts with the stone internally — a natural structure that bends and scatters light in all directions. This behaviour makes every opal feel individual, which is exactly why we enjoy working with them in small batches.
Below, you’ll find everything worth knowing about opals, along with the pieces currently available in our collection here in Singapore, including our pre-order designs. Pre-orders help us keep production small and each release thoughtful.

What Makes Opals So Distinctive
An opal’s appearance depends entirely on how light moves through it. Rotate the stone slightly, and new colours appear. Change the light source, and the stone reveals something else entirely.
Opals aren’t consistent, and that is their charm. Some reveal their colours boldly, while others glow only in certain lighting. Some stones show colour across the entire surface; others give flashes in small, unexpected areas.
Because no two opals share the same internal pattern, every opal jewellery piece is naturally one-of-a-kind — without needing to force the idea.
How Opals Behave in Light
You’ll notice:
- Colours appear and disappear depending on the angle
- Certain hues show only in daylight or warm evening lighting
- A single stone can shift mood depending on where you are
Where most gemstones offer predictability, opals offer behaviour. They seem to interact with the environment and with the person wearing them. This makes them especially compelling for daily jewellery, where lighting changes constantly.
Our Opal Jewellery Collection
Opals behave differently from almost any other gemstone, so the way we curate them has to be just as intentional. We don’t work with large inventories or repeatable batches — instead, each stone is chosen individually, handled slowly, and matched to a design that suits its tone and personality. Some opals glow softly, some flash unexpectedly, some reveal their colours only under warm evening light. We let those traits guide the piece they become rather than forcing them into a predetermined mould.
Working in small batches allows us to honour these differences. When you’re not trying to produce dozens of identical items, you can actually spend time with each stone: looking at how it behaves in daylight, how it responds to movement, and whether its character feels quiet, warm, bright, moody or playful. Only the stones that speak most strongly make it into the collection. The rest are set aside—beautiful, but not quite aligned with the expression we’re building.
This also means every piece in our opal collection carries its own presence. Even when two designs share the same silhouette, the stones themselves shift the final mood. One necklace might read soft and airy, another deeper or more atmospheric. One pair of studs may glow warmly; another might show a sharper flash of blues or greens. They’re part of the same family, but never replicas of one another.
Here are the opal pieces currently available in our Singapore collection—each created around the individual stone at its centre, each one quietly one-of-a-kind.
Umbalite Garnet and Opal Necklace (Pre-Order)

A warm combination of umbalite garnet tones balanced with the soft, shifting glow of an opal. The necklace sits naturally on the collarbone and catches light gently throughout the day.
Pre-order note: As each opal is unique, every necklace will differ slightly in tone and colour pattern.
Opal Square Ring (Pre-Order)

A clean geometric frame that gives the opal full presence. The square silhouette adds a contemporary structure while still letting the stone behave organically.
Pre-order note: Small-batch production; each stone is naturally one of a kind.
Our Favourite everyday Rings: Opal and Aquamarine Half-Eternity Ring & Opal and Sapphire Stack Ring

Cool aquamarine stones bring clarity and balance to the opal’s shifting tones. This ring is subtle but expressive, making it easy to wear daily without feeling delicate.
Sapphire adds depth and contrast, making the opal’s colour movement stand out more clearly in both natural and indoor light. Designed for stacking but strong enough on its own.
Opal Studs (6, 7 or 8 mm)

Our opal studs come in three sizes so you can choose the level of presence you prefer. They sit neatly on the ear and pair beautifully with or without jackets — an easy way to play with scale and texture.
Titanium Opal Necklace

A minimal approach with a cooler, more modern feel. Titanium gives the piece an understated, sleek edge while letting the opal remain the point of focus.
What to Look For When Choosing an Opal
When browsing opal jewellery — whether for yourself or as a gift — consider:
Colour Movement
Does the stone shift in interesting ways? Do certain colours surprise you?
Tone and Mood
Some opals are soft and airy; others feel deeper or more dramatic. Choose the one that matches your style.
Pattern
Even within a single opal, patterns vary — from fine pinpoints of colour to broader washes. There is no “correct” pattern; only the one that feels right when you look at it.
How It Sits in the Design
Opals don’t need heavy settings. The best designs give the gemstone room to breathe and respond to light.
Why Opals Work Beautifully in Singapore
Singapore’s bright daylight, warm evening lighting and reflective cityscape create ideal conditions for opals to show their range. Many stones reveal their strongest colours outdoors; others come alive under softer indoor light.
Because opals respond so directly to their surroundings, they feel particularly at home in a place where lighting shifts constantly throughout the day.
